The kids are out of school, the pools are open, and the temperatures are rising. With summer in full swing, many of us are looking forward to our summer vacation plans. Vacations can be a great, relaxing escape away from our busy lives, but planning them can sometimes be challenge and even frustrating at times. We've put together our list of top 5 travel apps that can make your vacation logistics worry free. Whether you're headed to the beach, lake, or mountains, these apps will be sure to make traveling more enjoyable.
1. TripAdvisor
More often than not, a memorable vacation starts with a lot of planning and research ahead of time to ensure you get the most out of your time and money. TripAdvisor's apps offer a wealth of user submitted reviews and ratings on accommodations, restaurants, and attractions as well as tools to help you make bookings and reservations. Reading other fellow travelers' experiences makes it easy to pick the must-see destinations on your trip.
2. Google Translate
If you're traveling to a place where you don't speak the language, this is a must-have app. It seems obvious and self-explanatory, but having your personal, on-the-go translator will make your temporary stay in a foreign land much more pleasant (and less stressful). Best of all, this app is totally free.
3. Kayak
Wouldn't it be nice to have one app where you could find the best prices on flights, hotels, and car rentals? Look no further than Kayak's mobile app which aggregates prices and availability from multiple sources enabling you to compare and find the best option at the lowest price. You can literally book transportation and accommodations for your entire trip with this helpful app.
4. Mobile Passport
Traveling abroad can be both exciting and rewarding, but navigating through airport security and customs can be a pain. There never seems to be an easy way to juggle your passport, boarding pass, and forms required to get through Customs and Border Protection. This mobile app allows you to breeze through customs and passport control by allowing you to fill out the CBP with the app and jump into the express lane getting you to your destination faster.
5. Uber
At this point, Uber is pretty much a household name, but you may not have expected it to be on our list of useful travel apps. It makes sense though. Uber offers a great, convenient way of getting around a city at an affordable price. Uber is available in almost every major city around the world, so you can use a single ride-sharing app for just about any trip you take.
